Welcome back to the Shamelessly Ambitious podcast.
Recently, a friend asked me a question that has stayed with me ever since:
If you were rebuilding your business from scratch today—as the woman you are now—what would you do differently?
Not from a branding or funnel perspective.
Not from a “what platform would you use” angle.
But from a life perspective.
And the more I sat with it, the clearer it became:
This isn’t just about business. It’s about why everything feels heavier right now—especially for women.
Why Business (and Life) Feels So Much Heavier Than It Used To
We have more tools than ever.
More automation.
More access.
More information.
And yet, so many women feel more exhausted, more behind, and more overwhelmed than ever before.
That disconnect matters.
Here’s what I see happening.
1. We’re Living Inside a Culture of Urgency
We are addicted to speed.
Faster launches.
Faster results.
Faster decisions.
Faster content.
Even “slow living” has become performative—something to optimize, monetize, or prove.
As a result, our nervous systems are constantly bracing.
They never get consented into the pace we’re asking them to hold.
If I were rebuilding my business in 2026, I would not optimize for speed.
I would optimize for sustainability.
2. The Input Is Inhumane
The amount of information we process daily is absurd.
Emails.
Client needs.
News.
Parenting advice.
Business strategy.
AI tools.
Opinions everywhere.
Even when you leave social media, the noise doesn’t disappear—it just reroutes.
And with more input comes more comparison, more mental labor, and more invisible pressure to “do something” with all of it.
3. Decision Fatigue Is Draining Women Dry
Every day requires thousands of decisions:
- What to eat
- How to work
- How to parent
- How to move your body
- How to grow your business
- How to be a good partner, mother, leader, friend
And for women, especially mothers, none of the old responsibilities went away when we gained autonomy, careers, or income.
We added roles.
We didn’t subtract any.
That cumulative load is real.
If I Were Rebuilding My Business in 2026, I’d Start Here
I wouldn’t start with offers, funnels, or visibility.
I would start with how I want my days to feel.
Because success that requires you to abandon your body, relationships, or sanity isn’t success—it’s a slow erosion.
Here’s what rebuilding would actually look like for me now.
I Would Protect My Mornings Ruthlessly
No phone.
No opinions.
No cortisol spikes before breakfast.
How you start your day sets the tone for your nervous system—and your capacity.
I Would Work With Realistic Capacity (Not Theoretical Capacity)
Yes, I can do anything.
But just because you can doesn’t mean you should.
Now, I:
- Set intentional start and stop times
- Close my computer when my list is done
- Resist the urge to “just do one more thing”
Sustainability requires knowing when enough is enough.
I Would Reduce Decisions Wherever Possible
Repetitive meals.
Simple routines.
Fewer yeses.
Not because life should be rigid—but because freedom comes from less friction, not more options.
I Would Stop Confusing Discipline With Self-Abandonment
High-achieving women do not lack discipline.
What we often lack is self-protection.
Drive without boundaries eventually costs more than it gives.
The Truth About Slowing Down
Slowness isn’t a productivity hack.
It isn’t a branding strategy.
And it isn’t something to perform.
It’s a biological requirement.
And paradoxically, it’s often the thing that allows your best work—and your best life—to emerge.
A Question I’ll Leave You With
If you were starting over right now:
- What habits would you keep?
- What patterns would you release?
- And which version of you deserves the promotion?
Because wisdom isn’t about doing more.
It’s about knowing what no longer deserves your energy.
xx, Ash
