Episode 95: The Good & Bad Of Finding Comfort In Your Business

Hello, my love, and welcome back to my little corner of the internet. In this episode, we’re going to delve into the concept of comfort and our societal addiction to it. Having recently returned to the United States after exploring many different countries and cultures, I’ve come to realize how much we crave “creature comforts” in our lives. From ordering groceries to getting our house cleaned, our lives have become increasingly convenient. While these comforts are something to be grateful for, there’s also a conversation to be had about our addiction to comfort and how it can hinder our growth within our businesses.

Exploring the Duality of Comfort

During my travels, I experienced the stark differences in cultural norms and creature comforts across different countries. Each place had its own unique way of doing things, and there were definitely some aspects I was excited to get back to in the United States… like ordering groceries. This duality of comfort presents a beautiful opportunity to simplify our lives and create spaciousness. I’m in my era of “life is easy.” Life can be soooo easy if we want it to be and that’s where we thrive with the addition of these creature comforts.

The Pursuit of Comfort in Everyday Life

On that note, as I prepare to move into our new house! Eeek!! I’ve contemplated investing in a house manager — someone who’s a dedicated individual responsible for various household tasks like laundry because Lord knows with 3 kids we’re running multiple loads a week. Some might consider this extravagant, but like I said, I’m embracing the idea of simplifying my life. When we lived in Colorado, we had a nanny to support us with childcare which was a huge blessing so I imagine a house manager would free up time and energy that could be better spent on activities that align with our passions and purpose. Because y’all know I hate wasted time.

Creating Wealth to Support Others

Another reason why I’ve been considering a house manager is because one of the most fulfilling aspects of building abundance and wealth is the capacity to share it with others. I’m personally passionate about supporting small businesses and investing in opportunities that can positively impact someone’s life. The more wealth we create, the more we can give back and create wealth for others. It’s a powerful mindset shift that allows us to see money as a tool for creating positive change.

The Downfall of Comfort in Business

While comfort can be a source of joy and ease in our personal lives, it can also lead to complacency in our businesses. Many entrepreneurs find themselves comfortably stuck, overthinking and hesitating to take action. The balance between feminine and masculine energies in business has become a hot topic of discussion. The danger is leaning too much into comfort (feminine energy) and becoming stagnant after experiencing burnout (from leaning too much into masculine energy). While I don’t like to use the word ‘balance’, we do need to find a way that masculine and feminine strategies can coexist and recognize when comfort becomes a barrier to growth.

Embracing Discomfort & Taking Action

Stepping outside our comfort zones is where real growth happens. It’s so important to set goals that challenge us and push us beyond what we think we’re capable of because if you listened to episode 92, you’d remember that your capacity is so much greater than you imagined. When we get stuck in our business it’s because we’ve been overthinking and putting ourselves in a state of paralysis. This often stems from making things unnecessarily complicated. By taking radical responsibility and committing to decisions, we can break through the barriers that are holding us back. Embracing discomfort allows us to tap into our inner knowing and unleash our full potential. The only way we are going to accomplish our goals is by taking action, so while leaving our comfort zone is temporarily uncomfy, it’s worth it in the long run.

And this podcast is the one to binge so you can finally do that.

That’s a title I’ve earned by building multiple 6-figure businesses while raising multiple babies after earning multiple degrees in my craft as a trained and expert therapist.

No shade to all the “help you through your burnout” podcasts where the hosts actually don’t have training and tell you “just do less!” — wait, scratch that… actually ALL THE SHADE to them because that advice? For a woman like you? Fuck that.

As shamelessly ambitious women, we don’t want less. We want to find contentment in the chaos. We want to feel good as we do all the things we care about and love pouring into.
